Allergology

Assessment of suspected allergies and recurring reactions. Tell us when symptoms occur and which triggers you suspect.

Allergy assessment

Allergology addresses recurring reactions to substances in the environment, foods or medicines. It helps identify the cause of symptoms and plan suitable treatment and practical measures.

During the consultation, the doctor discusses the pattern of symptoms, possible triggers and previous treatment. They may recommend skin tests, blood tests or breathing assessment. Results are interpreted alongside your symptoms; a positive test alone does not confirm an allergy.

OpenMedical helps arrange the consultation and tells you which reports to bring. We check the examination options, preparation instructions, costs and payment arrangements with the practice beforehand.

What you can discuss with the specialist

  • Seasonal nasal symptoms, sneezing and itchy eyes
  • Recurring hives, swelling or other skin reactions
  • A suspected reaction to food, medicines or an insect sting
  • Cough or wheeze with a possible allergic cause

Preparation and important information for your visit

  • Describe when reactions occur and how long they last; photographs can help
  • Bring previous results and a medication list; do not stop antihistamines without clinic instructions
  • Do not reproduce a serious reaction at home
  • Call 155 for tongue or throat swelling, severe breathing difficulty or collapse

Frequently asked questions

About the consultation and planning your visit.

Does a positive test automatically mean I have an allergy?+

No. It may show increased sensitivity to the tested substance alone. Allergy is assessed alongside symptoms and the circumstances of a reaction, not from the test alone.

Should I stop antihistamines before the visit?+

Do not stop them without advice. Some skin tests require medication changes; the testing clinic must give you specific instructions.

Can every food be tested at once?+

Tests follow the symptoms. Broad panels may not explain them; intolerance and allergy differ. A test alone does not justify eliminating foods.

Is allergen immunotherapy suitable for everyone?+

No. Suitability depends on the confirmed allergy, symptom severity, previous treatment and your health. An allergist assesses this individually.

How do I book and what are the visit requirements?+

Send the reason for your visit and the patient’s age. Before confirming, we check availability, price, referral requirements and any insurance coverage.
